The RheoMaTe consortium unites 14 companies into a comprehensive value chain, creating strong opportunities for the commercialization of rheological measurement technologies and the application of new expertise in sustainable processes and product development. This diverse group includes measurement and analyzer providers (ACA Systems, AMT-Systems, Ambertec, Pixact), machinery manufacturers (Bellmer, Valmet, Sulzer), simulation technology providers (EDRMedeso, Stressfield), a producer of insulation and packaging materials (Fiberwood), a manufacturer of abrasive papers and solutions (Mirka), a developer and producer of cellulose-based textile fiber technologies (Spinnova), a specialist in chemical mixing solutions (Wetend), and a provider of fire prevention agents (Xpyro). Together, these companies represent a strong cross-section of industrial and technological knowledge. The consortium is further strengthened by an extensive international partner network, which enhances the depth of the research carried out within the RheoMaTe project. Supported by the Beyond Circularity ecosystems and funded by Business Finland, the project is well positioned to drive forward innovation in both rheological measurement and sustainable industrial applications.
AMT Systems Oy is a Finnish company specializing in industrial automation and control systems. They offer tailored solutions for process optimization and system integration across various industries. AMBERTEC specialises in analysis of non-uniformity in quality properties of web-type materials like paper, paper board, non woven, textile, film etc. Our speciality is basis-weight and porosity assessment with high accuracy and resolution. AMBERTEC services are utilized in routine quality control, process enhancement and quality improvement projects, research and development of product, process components, additives, etc., as well as for guarantee verification purposes. Our approach is to assist our customers in their development and optimisation tasks, adding special measurements and know-how to portfolio. Typically there exist remarkable enhancement potential in manufacturing processes, where final target is Product Quality and Process Performance Optimisation.

Fiberwood Oy, founded in 2019, develops eco-friendly insulation and packaging materials from forestry side streams. The company offers sustainable, recyclable alternatives to traditional materials like plastic and mineral wool. In 2024, it secured €7.7 million in funding to scale production, aiming for commercial manufacturing in 2025. Fiberwood focuses on sustainability in construction and packaging industries.

Mirka Oy, founded in 1943 and based in Jeppo, Finland, is a global leader in surface finishing technology. The company specializes in abrasives, sanding tools, and polishing compounds for industries such as automotive, wood processing, and metalworking. Known for innovation and quality, Mirka provides efficient solutions for surface finishing.

Pixact develops and supplies novel measurement technology based on optical imaging. We provide new tools for the diagnostics, control and optimization of industrial processes. The Pixact technology combines online process microscopy with advanced image analysis techniques to produce very detailed information of the suspension properties. Real-time analysis of critical process parameters, such as the particle size, shape and colour can be benefitted both in the production scale and R&D. Our measurement systems facilitate improved process performance, reduced lead-time, decreased out-of-spec production and even simplified process operation. In addition to complete measurement systems, Pixact offers research and analysis services.

Spinnova Oyj, founded in 2014 and based in Jyväskylä, Finland, specializes in sustainable fiber production. The company uses a patented technology to convert wood pulp and waste materials into textile fibers without harmful chemicals. Spinnova collaborates with several prominent brands across various industries to promote sustainable textile innovations.

Stressfield Oy is an engineering services company employing 16 persons at the moment. We are focused on technical analysis (CFD, FEM, DEM), failure assessment and process analysis. We serve almost all major machinery companies in Finland together with several process industry companies in pulp & paper, chemical and mining industries. We optimize and develop processes for process industry, for example, by increasing production, minimizing waste and losses, controlling thermal behaviour, and by stopping wear and contamination.

Sulzer is a company with long experience and proven expertise in providing industry-leading process equipment. The company offers support for researching and processing new bio-based feedstocks in the project. The central role of Sulzer builds on their application expertise from pulp, paper, and board processes as well as significant industrial advancements in novel wood-based raw materials.

Valmet Oyj, founded in 1951 and headquartered in Espoo, Finland, specializes in process technologies, automation, and services for industries like pulp, paper, and energy. The company offers machinery, plants, and automation solutions and operates in over 40 countries. Valmet employs over 19,000 people and is recognized for its sustainability efforts. Valmet is a leading global developer and supplier of process technologies, automation and services for the pulp, paper and energy industries. With our automation systems and flow control solutions we serve an even wider base of process industries. The scope of process technologies offering includes complete production lines, mills and plants, technology islands and machine sections as well as process components.

Wetend Technologies Ltd, founded in 2001 in Savonlinna, Finland, specializes in chemical mixing solutions for the paper and board industry. Their TrumpJet® Flash Mixing technology reduces chemical use, water consumption, and energy, offering environmental and cost benefits. Wetend has over 650 installations worldwide.

Xpyro Oy, founded in 2011 and based in Espoo, Finland, specializes in fire prevention solutions for wildfires and forest fires. Their products offer eco-friendly, non-toxic methods for preventing and extinguishing fires, including smoldering underground fires. Xpyro’s solutions help reduce wildfire risks and CO₂ emissions from peat fires.
